Halloween Makeup

October 30, 2016

Happy Halloween! Such a fun celebration to usher in the winter months! I love this holiday because it reminds me of fun, scary movies with friends, pumpkin decorating, chocolate treats and fall scents like cinnamon (mmm!). Also is anyone else a huge fan of Hocus Pocus? I must have watched that movie a million times when I was younger and still enjoy seeing it every year!

To get into the spirit of All Hallows’ Eve I decided to try some fun makeup for the occasion that started with a lot of David Bowie type blush and evolved into a more gothic version with the deep lips and eyes. If you don’t have a specific costume and want to just get into the spirit of Halloween then this could definitely be up your alley. You can add this makeup to a witch costume, turn into a gothic ballerina, pair it with black and orange ensemble – the possibilities are endless!

To start I followed this tutorial by the amazing Lisa Eldridge. If you haven’t watched any of her videos just a fair warning that once you start, it’s hard to stop! Her tutorials are easy to follow and make you feel like a pro, which is great for someone like me who finds makeup intimidating! All you need for this is black eyeliner and pink blush. I used a cream blush to start and deepened it with peach and rose powder blush as well. You can make this look your own so go crazy!

To finish I also added a plum lip to mine. I used a tinted lip balm which is great for every day but it’s buildable for looks like this. Additionally, I swiped on a reddish eyeshadow from Loreal and turned my eyeliner into a cat eye to make the look more suited for Halloween. Super easy and fun for Halloween! Enjoy!
